Developing Bathrobes Around Buyer Specifications
Robenexa develops bathrobe sizes and constructions for hotels, spa suppliers, wholesalers, retail chains and private-label brands. Buyers can begin with an existing robe, measurement chart, tech pack, reference photograph or physical sample.
The development process converts these references into measurable production specifications. Robe length, chest width, sleeve length, collar shape, pocket position, belt dimensions and other construction details are reviewed before sampling. This helps the buyer and production team work from the same approved reference instead of relying on a general style description.
Size and style requirements should be provided together with the selected material and target GSM. Fabric weight, thickness, stretch and shrinkage expectations can affect finished measurements, seam construction and overall fit.
Kimono, Shawl-Collar and Hooded Styles
Kimono robes use a simpler front-band construction and are frequently selected for lightweight waffle, satin, spa and promotional programs. The front overlap, neckline, sleeve shape and finished length should be defined during development.
Shawl-collar robes use a wider, shaped collar and are commonly requested for terry hotel robes, fleece robes and premium private-label collections. Collar width, thickness and symmetry require clear confirmation because heavier materials can change how the collar sits on the finished garment.
Hooded robes may be developed for adult, kids’, hotel, seasonal wholesale and retail programs. Hood depth, opening, attachment seam and finished weight must suit the selected material. A hood that works well in lightweight fabric may require structural adjustment when produced in heavy terry or fleece.
Adult, Unisex and Kids’ Size Development
Bathrobe sizing may be developed for adult, unisex or kids’ programs. A complete measurement chart should identify the measurement points, size range and acceptable tolerance rather than using only general S, M, L or XL labels.
Key measurements normally include:
- Chest width
- Body length
- Sleeve length
- Shoulder or applicable upper-body measurement
- Cuff opening
- Pocket size and position
- Belt length and width
- Belt-loop position
- Hood dimensions when applicable
When a physical reference sample is supplied, it is measured and compared with the proposed size chart. If the buyer provides only a photograph, additional dimensions are required before an accurate sample can be prepared.
Pattern Preparation and Sample Confirmation
After the measurements and construction are reviewed, pattern components are prepared for the selected style. The pattern must account for collar construction, front overlap, pockets, sleeves, belt loops, hems and any order-specific details.
A development sample is then produced to check proportions, fit, construction and finished measurements. Standard samples normally take 5–10 days. New sizing, more detailed construction or material changes may require approximately 10–15 days.
The buyer should review the sample together with the measurement chart. Comments such as “make it larger” or “shorten the sleeves” should be converted into exact revised dimensions before the next sample or bulk production.
Pre-Production Approval and Bulk Consistency
Bulk cutting begins only after the fabric, size chart, pattern, construction and sample have been approved. The approved sample and confirmed measurement specification become the reference for cutting, sewing, finishing and final inspection.
During production, cut components and finished garments are checked against the agreed dimensions. Collars, pockets, belt loops, hems and main seams are also reviewed for position and workmanship. Further production details are explained in our Pattern Making and Cutting and Sewing and Assembly pages.
MOQ, Lead Time and Quotation Details
Standard bathrobe programs usually start at around 300–500 pieces per style. Deeper fabric, color, size or construction development may require approximately 800–1,500 pieces, depending on material and order requirements.
For evaluation, buyers should provide the robe style, fabric and GSM, measurement chart, size breakdown, quantity, colors, logo details, labels, packaging and destination. These details allow us to assess pattern requirements, sampling time, MOQ and expected production schedule.
Bulk production normally takes around 25–40 days after the sample, measurements and order details are approved. Material selection can be coordinated through Fabric and GSM Options, while the complete development process is outlined on our Custom OEM Bathrobes page.
